A VERY PLEASANT DAY

Typically, to take a day off from school involves so much awkward planning for a substitute teacher, it is hardly worth the effort. But all of my classes are reading books right now and that makes it super easy to make sub plans, so I took a mental health day off from school today and arranged a three day weekend for myself - at Melissa's urging.

Glad I did. I started the day with my (newly) usual Bible and prayer time followed by a two mile run with the dogs, and then I met with a friend before returning home to walk to a coffee shop with Melissa.

In the afternoon I broke out some paints and brushes and started working on an art project while listening to a couple of interesting podcasts. Very enjoyable hours.

In the evening I smoked some chicken wings and pizzas and both Samuel and Hannah came back from college for the weekend because Melissa's side of the family is hosting their Thanksgiving gathering tomorrow afternoon. So fun to catch up with their lives for the evening.

The only thing missing from this pleasant day was Caleb, who was previously committed to a Campus Crusade retreat for the weekend.

Now, as part of my mental health day, I have finished a short and simple bit of writing and am off to bed!
