Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you yourself will be like him.
Answer a fool according to his folly,
lest he become wise in his own eyes. (Proverbs 26:4-5)
I love these two proverbs and the way they appear side by side in Scripture.
If nothing else, they should serve as a warning against proof-texting theological opinions.
And a word of precaution to those who confidently begin sentences with the words "The Bible clearly teaches ..."
