MY NEW BOSS...

... took the helm of Cowman School today and, I have to say, so far I really love her.

I'm blowing the summer dust off this blog to widely announce a big change in the administration at Cowman International School. Our former principal, Angie Bundy, has asked my wife, Melissa, to fill the role of principal and this morning, when all the teachers gathered upstairs at Radio4VEH next door to begin the new school year, the baton was officially passed.

Angie will remain as director of the school but is, I believe, more than happy to pass to Melissa the burden of day to day administration of the staff and curriculum as well as all the headaches that come with it. Staff shortages have necessitated that Angie will be stepping into the 5th grade classroom as lead teacher. So she will continue to have her hands full.

For Melissa's part, she is a bit nervous about this new burden of responsibility and I have found it necessary over the last few weeks since she prayerfully agreed to the new role to remind her that God has gifted her for such a position as this and that He will guide and He will provide.

So this morning, Angie opened our first teacher meeting of the 2017/2018 school year ...

And then prayed for Melissa as Cowman's new principal ...

And Melissa took the reigns (in my humble, non-biased, and totally not-just-sucking-up-to-the-new-boss opinion) like she was born for it.

And perhaps she was.

Ephesians 2:10
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

As for me, I spent the morning not only admiring my wife's work (am I laying it on too heavy here??), but also feeling so grateful to work at a place like Cowman, serving Christ's kingdom with some of the most incredible friends a man could ask for.

I am blessed!

At the end of our meeting, we had the joy of celebrating the impending birth of a little girl to Julianna, one of our preschool teachers. (She's going to be taking the next few months off!) Please join us in praying for a smooth and healthy birth.

Meanwhile, when I ran home to pick up something the principal forgot to bring to the meeting (because I am intent on supporting our new principal in any way possible), I found our kids doing this:

Summer's not over yet for them yet!

**************

I would be remiss if I did not share one very important prayer request. There was a notable absence at the teachers' meeting this morning: Coach will not be returning to his role as gym teacher this year.

If you've met Coach, you know that he looks the very picture of health. However, over the past six months he has experienced some incredibly serious episodes that have been traced to a congenital heart defect. Rose is very concerned because the men in coach's family have a poor track record for longevity. Please pray protection over this precious family and the opportunity, somehow, for expert medical treatment or, better yet, miraculous healing. In the meantime, Coach is going to be taking life easier than your typical gym teacher can...
