On the bright side, our lack of internet has freed up my time to work on liberating crab meat from some of the thickest shells I have ever seen. |
While the 'net was functioning tonight, I did want to quickly give an update on our house situation, especially since so many have lifted this in prayer over the past weeks and months. Good news: after sitting without rent for January and February and then without occupants for March and most of April, the house is finally re-rented as of last week! Praise the Lord! It has NOT been without a few rough spots, though, and we're not sure the new renters will be staying on past the first of June. (Bottom line: We'd appreciate continued prayers. But at least we'll soon be there to deal with it in person.)
We need to send a HUGE shout out of thanks to our property manager, Bobbie, for all of her leg work and attention to detail and to Melissa's mom, Trudy, for rounding up friends and family to help clean the inside of the house and the Combs Family for working on the yard! You all have made our long-distance house situation so much LESS stressful than it has any right to be and we are so grateful.
The other update I wanted to share was that we have reserved tickets to get us back "home" again, to Indiana, for the summer. Five short weeks from today - that would be Tuesday, June 2 - with the new American Airlines flights, the six of us can board a plane here in Cap Haitien at 2:00 pm that afternoon and be in Indianapolis by 9:30 that evening (God willing!).
We have so many people we want to see once we get back to the States! I am working on the calendar - especially for Sunday mornings - and still have some spaces open, so if you know of a church or Sunday school class or any other group who would be interested in hearing about the ministry here in Haiti, send me a message, either here, Facebook, or at sgross@onemissionsociety.org. Thanks!
For now, we are concentrating on enduring the 100 degree days and lack of rain while finishing the school year strong!
